I’m Dee and I am a humanistic, person-centred trainee counsellor and psychotherapist in East Grinstead, West Sussex. That means I will listen to you empathically and non-judgmentally, I will work with you and help you access your inner rescources. I always put you at the heart of what I do. My background is in healthcare as a people manager and this has given me a great understanding of people, and the pressures we are put under in the workplace and our lives. I have worked with various charities as a volunteer counsellor over the last two years, including Redhill Counselling Centre and Headway. I have over 200 hours of experience counselling clients.
Training and experience: I am working towards a Post-Graduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis (TA) in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Wealden College, Crowborough. I am in my fourth year of advanced training and my private practice is based at Meridian Osteopath in Railway Approach, East Grinstead, West Sussex (above The Denture Studio). I am fully insured and supervised and I belong to UKATA, the professional body for TA psychotherapy. I write a regular column on writing and therapy for the quarterly magazine The Transactional Analyst.
What is counselling and psychotherapy? Counselling and psychotherapy are both very effective ‘talking therapies’. Expressing what is on your mind, and telling someone how you are truly feeling in your heart, can be hugely beneficial. Through counselling I can help you access the wisdom you already have and support you in coming to terms with your life events. In offering psychotherapy, I can help you explore familiar patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours and you will be able to make positive changes in your life. You can feel empowered to be the person you want to be – rather than the person you feel you ought to be, or have always been.
Who has counselling and psychotherapy? People from all walks of life seek counselling or psychotherapy and for various reasons. You may be feeling low, depressed, anxious, stressed or experiencing difficulty within your relationships. You may have experienced a significant trauma, bereavement or loss, or have lost your sense of self. Whatever your own personal reason, I can offer you a safe and confidential space to explore what’s going on for you. I work with individual adults over 16 years.
Not sure whether to get in touch? I understand how daunted you may be feeling about reaching for support. I have been there and I understand. You may be wondering whether counselling is right for you, or whether we will be a good fit. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if this is the case. I offer a FREE initial session where we can meet with no obligation to continue. If you do decide to continue, I usually suggest we see each other for 6 sessions to begin with and review from there.
Want to get in touch? Please use the ‘Contact Me’ page to arrange your free first session or call me on 07824 429775.
I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on your personal journey.
